When Bill Gates left Harvard, and took out for New Mexico in order to sell copies of his version of Basic, his biggest question was, "Am I too late?"

As it was, he had about seven years to learn how to run a software company before IBM came knocking on his door.

I think that, in 1975, I knew how to program about as good as Bill Gates did, although I never tackled writing a compiler. I didn't have clue about how to run a business, much less a software company.
